  • Serial ATA was introduced in the year 2002 to replace the slower parallel ATA (PATA) interface standard. SATA hard disk is a device in computers used for storing operating system, softwares, documents, media files, etc. SATA hard drives have been in great demand ever since they have been introduced into the market. It is not compatibility alone that is responsible for the increasing popularity, but also the increased access speed that has attracted customers towards it. The data transmission speed of SATA hard disk is about 1.5 GB per second and is unidirectional. Eventually the SATA II was introduced in the year of 2003 that has the speed of about 3 GB per second. Though these hard drives were initially used as a storage device for storing large files like movies or for backup purpose, they are now more than just plain storage devices. Many of us make use of this hard disk as their primary hard drive and are using this hard disk to run applications and perform other tasks. There are instances when your hard drive get crashed due to some errors leading to huge data loss. So, in that case to bring back files from SATA hard disk you need to make use of relevant hard drive revival software.

Common Data Loss Scenarios in SATA Hard Disk are discussed below:

    • Reformatting Error: Any error encountered during the reformatting process such as forcibly shutting down the system during the continuation of reformatting process or instant power failure during reformat can corrupt the entire SATA hard drive and can make the hard drive data inaccessible.
    • Improper Formatting process: Data from the hard drive can be lost because of improper formatting the SATA hard drive without taking proper data backup.
    • Additional Reasons: Apart from above two reasons there are some other reasons behind data loss from SATA hard drive such as partitioning error while re-partitioning the hard drive, corrupting the partitions while trying to make multi OS boot installation, errors occurred in the file system conversion, accidental conversion of a partition from dynamic to basic or vice versa etc.

To avoid losing data from your SATA hard drive due to any of the above reason you can take some precautionary measures which are discussed below:
